Skin Routine for Acne Prone Skin

Hello my Sirens!

It has been a long time since I've updated my blog but I have something so great to share with you all and I couldn't resist.

This post is about my daily skin routine and how I keep my skin clear.

Before I enlighten you here is a little background about my skin. I have oily combination skin meaning my skin gets oily in my T-zone area, which includes the forehead, nose and chin. My cheeks don't usually get oily but they aren't dry either. I also struggle with acne here and there and have to constantly be on top of keeping my skin clean or it will break out.

For years I've struggled with buying products that do everything but clear up my skin. I can honestly say that I've tried all brands and lines with minimal success. Finally I began educating myself and learned that the ingredients that help cure and heal acne blemishes are the following: Salicylic acid, Benzoyl Peroxide, and Sulfur. (Search for these ingredients while shopping for cleansers and moisturizers)

Here is my skin routine:

First I wash my face with Bioré’s Pore Unclogging Face Wash it has Salicylic Acid. I squeeze a half dime sized amount onto the tip of my fingers and massage it in gentle circular motions onto damp skin. I do this for about 15-30 seconds and then rinse with warm water and pat my skin dry with a clean facial towel.

Then I grab one of Neutrogena’s Acne Skin Pads which has Salicylic Acid and rub it onto my skin using moderate pressure making sure I focus on my T-zone and then let my skin air-dry.

Lastly, I apply one small pump of Burt Bee’s Acne Lotion which has Salicylic Acid and distribute it evenly all over my face until the skin absorbs it completely.

I do this process in the morning when I wake up and at nighttime right before bed. If I do happen to have a blemish I do apply, Neutrogena’s Benzoyl Peroxide Spot Acne Treatment directly on the blemish. I pack it on during night time and during the day I make sure the product disappears on the blemish so no traces of product is visible.

Once a week I do apply a sulfur based mask to soften the skin and medicate it. I leave it on for no more than 15 minutes and then rinse with warm water.

These products have changed my skin completely and I hope it will help improve yours as well.

Marilyn Monroe was known for being the ultimate American Sex Symbol. She was a hollywood star admired by many and was the epitome of femininity. She was a blonde with curves, a killer walk and a pair of red lips to go with it all.
Although red lips have been around for many years Marilyn's pout was one to inspire other women to be daring enough to rock the look. . .

Today there are many women who love showing off classic red lips and when I go out red lipstick is my go to make-up aid just because it makes a makeup application that much easier and faster!

The best way to wear red lips is to start with a clean canvas, a clean moisturized face, applying a good concealer and foundation to even out the skin. Maybe a little contouring with some matte bronzer on the hollows of your cheeks. Minimal color on the eyes is what is recommended since lips are the main attraction of the look. Eyes should be left clean and simple with maybe just a winged eye liner and some black mascara to make you look classy and polished. A good example of what I am describing is the makeup application Christina Aguilera has in the picture below...

CLASSIC TIMELESS LOOK.

Here I am with red lips...

On all of these pictures I am wearing the same shade of lipstick which is Rimmel London's Moisture Renew Lipstick in 'Red Alert'. It has been my absolute favorite lipstick since like forever! The color is rich and very pigmented. The consistency is rich and glides on smooth on the lips. It doesn't leave a greasy feeling behind and it doesn't dry out my lips at all and the best part is------It last all day long! It retails for about $ 7 dollars at pharmacies like Duane Reade, Rite Aid, Walgreens, CVS in the Rimmel London Section of the makeup aisle. This shade really goes well for women of all shades of skin color. I totally recommend this color and brand for every daring siren out there!

My top favorite trends for 2012

I wanted to share my absolute favorite fashion trends of 2011-2012. These trends are to die for! Let me know if you love them as well...and if you have any trends in particular that you also adore please share them with a post.

Color Blocking...

Color blocking is such an amazing trend and makes your whole entire look very fun and youthful. By combining bright colors that you'd never thought will ever go together you might just come up with a look that can def make a splash amongst your peers! Making you stand out from the crowd in a good way...here are some amazing pictures I found of models on the catwalk and celebrities sporting the trend!

On the left, Actress Camilla Belle color blocks wearing a pant ensemble and on the right J.Lo keeps it sexy and classy with a mini. They are both wearing the same gold belt to add the finishing polished touch to their outfits...simply stunning!

Third times the charm! here are three looks where Kim K. effortlessly color blocks and looks beautiful as always. She loves experimenting with bright colors and layers and she looks FAB!

Rihanna looking fierce and fiery on the picture below. I adore when she had her red hair she played with a lot of daring colors to compliment her bright hair. She wears those orange pants very well and we just have to love her for wearing those sassy gold pumps. Not only does it add a shimmer but it gives it the finishing touch to her solid two toned look.

Kim Kardashian also looks very stunning wearing this bright lime green dress along with some royal blue shoes. Both of these gals are just so creative.

Makes me wanna shop like right NOW! LOL
